This wine is produced from grapes grown at Pothana Vineyard on clay with limestone sub soils. The vines are old and low yielding, producing less than 2 tonnes per acre annually. The fruit was ripe clean and in excellent condition when it was hand picked in mid February. The grapes were fermented in traditional open fermenters, which were hand plunged and then basket pressed. The resulting wine was stored in French oak barrels for 12 months. After blending, the wine was only lightly fined, followed by light filtration prior to bottling.

Bright ruby hues with a touch of purple, subtle aromas of spice, pepper and savoury oak. The palate delivers the classic hunter hints of leather, pepper, vanilla and blackberries.
